I recently had a chance to sit down with Patricia Kozicka at Global News to discuss my recent book, "What Makes Us Unique? Our First Talk About Diversity." It was a thoughtful interview, full of interesting and thought provoking questions. Resulting from this interview, is the following article which was published yesterday:
Patricia was able to synthesize the interview and outline three important steps to combat racism: 1) start talking with your children about racism, prejudice and discrimination early, 2) model inclusive values, and 3) talk with your children about the world's problems. The principal idea here is to not shy away or hide from the discussion, but rather to face it head on.
Since the article was published yesterday, it has been shared more than three thousand times on social media. It is clear that it is hitting a nerve amongst readers.
As Patricia quoted me in the article, "“I believe all of Canadians have to fight against discrimination," I urge you all to fight to make the world a better and more respectful and inclusive environment for all!
